Who is this program for?

This program is for people employed in OHS roles and safety professionals seeking a nationally recognised qualification to enhance their job knowledge and prospects. The program reflects the role of those who manage an organisation’s OHS program. Participants will possess a sound knowledge base and use various competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate their work and the work of others.

How will I be assessed?

To gain the qualification you will have to pass a number of practical and workplace (or simulated workplace) assessments. The assessments for this course are based on formal processes as required by the government.

This program is made up of eight units of competency:

  • Participate in the coordination and maintenance of a systematic approach to managing OHS
  • Participate in the management of the OHS information and data systems
  • Assist in the design and development of the OHS participative arrangements
  • Apply principles of OHS risk management 
  • Manage hazards in the work environment
  • Monitor and facilitate the management of hazards associated with plant
  • Facilitate the application of principles of occupational health to control OHS risk
  • Participate in the investigation of incidents
